Scandia Coffee House & Eatery in Stanwood, WA

I found another treasure for you “peep squad.” After Satchy and I explored Camano Island, WA we headed back home, chatting away. Until we saw this sign…

Now, this brings back all sorts of childhood memories. I should have permanent whiplash by now because of my mother. Why, you ask? Well my mother would slam on the brakes if she saw any sign with words such as “homemade,” “freshly baked,” “made from scratch.” It didn’t even matter if we were hungry or not. We had to try it. I guess that family quality somehow got trickled down to my DNA and poor Satchy is now the one with whiplash.

We entered Scandia Coffee House & Eatery in Stanwood, WA and the delicious aromas left us spellbound. Well, let me tell you there was too much to choose from. Display cases beckoned with freshly baked desserts and the bread…let me tell you about the bread…I could have eaten a loaf of the honey wheat. Mmmmmm… I built my own sandwich with turkey, cream cheese, cranberries and all my fav’s in between those two beautiful slices of heaven. A side of creamy mushroom and rice soup and I was good to go. Satchy had a Panini and he was one happy camper. Scandia makes two homemade soups daily and has organic salads. On top of all of this...they serve espresso. Seriously...how did they figure out all my weaknesses?

Then it was time for dessert. One word “homemade.” If it has the same effect on you as it does me – you know what you have to do. That’s right, plan a little trip to Stanwood, WA “because you were in the neighborhood,” and get some of this yummy food. Tell whoever you bring to wear a neck brace. They will appreciate this tip. Now, wipe that drool off your computer screen and get back to work!
Until later in the week “peep squad”…

Your lunch sounds wonderful! I will need to visit here soon. The link does not work for me though, I tried typing it in and still no luck :( I think I gained weight just peeking at the carrot cake. :)
Thanks Michelle! You were right on the link. I took it down.
Doesn't that carrot cake look yummy? It tasted great! :)
You are so welcome, I did find out that the link is not working because the website is getting redone and should be up and running this weekend :) I did find them on face book and they have their menu there too :) http://www.facebook.com/pages/Scandia-Coffeehouse-Eatery/209900862157
I've been there before and you're right...it is worth the drive! They didn't have the carrot cake there on the day I was there...I'm jealous!
Hi I'm Donna King, the owner of Scandia Coffeehouse. I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the nice words! We work really hard and this economy getting a new business going is tough so it is doubly appreciated! Thanks and take good care! Do you have a facebook link to your blog?

Hey do you mind if I use a couple of the photos you took to use on my new web page? I can send you a gift card in exchange!
Hi Donna!
Feel free to take any photos you would like. I have a couple more you might want to use that I didn't include in the blog. I will send you them. That was sweet of you to offer a gift card, but I'm just happy to help local businesses!
